Los premios de la Academia de las Artes Los Oscars de este 2017 tuvieron su premiación en el Dolby Theatre en Hollywood, California. Ahora en su edición número 89, el premio anual reconoce logros cinematográficos en la industria del cine.
A pesar del percance histórico donde se había dado el premio a Mejor Película a La la Land y al final Moonlight ganó el preciado Oscar, superando a La La Land, Manchester by the Sea, La Llegada, Hidden Figures, Hell or High Water, Hacksaw Ridge, Fences y Lion.
Damien Chazelle ganó como Mejor Director por La La Land, superando la dura competencia con Mel Gibson, Barry Jenkins, Kenneth Lonergan y Denis Villeneuve.
Casey Affleck ganó como Mejor Actor por Manchester By the Sea sobre Ryan Gosling, Denzel Washington, Andrew Garfield y Viggo Mortensen. Mientras Emma Stone ganó como Mejor Actriz por La La Land sobre Natalie Portman, Ruth Negga, Isabelle Huppert y Meryl Streep.
Mahershala Ali ganó como Mejor Actor de Reparto por Moonlight sobre Jeff Bridges, Dev Patel, Lucas Hedges y Michael Shannon. El es el primer actor musulmán en ganar un premio de la Academia. Viola Davis ganó como Mejor Actriz de Reparto por Fences, sobre Naomie Harris, Nicole Kidman, Octavia Spencer y Michelle Williams. Ella es la primera actriz de color en ganar un Oscar, un Emmy y un Tony.
