A través de la lista de correo Encuadre, me entero que hace poco se lanzó la beca Atypi, que puede resultar interesante para los lectores del blog. Se trata de una beca para el conocimiento y formación en áreas relacionadas con el libro manual, aquél que se hace con técnicas tradicionales (impresión con tipos móviles, caligrafía, encuadernación y elaboración de papel).
Las condiciones de becas son atractivas, la convocatoria sale con bastante tiempo (la fecha límite para enviar trabajos es el próximo 15 de febrero) y como ellos mismos dicen: les interesa ampliar sus “aproximaciones multiculturales”, así que si están un poco hartos de lo digital y quieren aproximarse al libro tradicional, esta es una buena oportunidad.
Wells College Book Arts Center Now Accepting Applications for Victor Hammer Fellowship
The Wells College Book Arts Center is pleased to begin accepting applications
for the sixth Victor Hammer Fellowship in the Book Arts. The successful applicant will have extensive experience in hand bookbinding plus one other area of the books arts (letterpress printing, calligraphy, papermaking), as well as a proven commitment to promoting the book arts through education or community involvement.
The essential duties of this two-year fellowship are to teach one introductory hand bookbinding course per semester, to assist with a variety of Book Arts Center projects, and to produce an independent body of work. Benefits include an apprenticeship at the press and letterfoundry of Michael and Winifred Bixler in Skaneateles, New York, an annual stipend, a supplies budget and a medical insurance package.
Applicants should submit a letter of application, a complete CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, three letters of reference and 8-10 slides or Mac-compatible digital images of recent work by February 15, 2008 to: The Wells College Book Arts Center 170 Main Street Aurora, New York 13026
